There’s nothing more British than a garden fete and that’s exactly what you get at this delightful, summer family festival in Cornwall. Expect a postcard perfect setting of rolling green hills, silvery lakes and trees rustling in the breeze creating a Hardy-esque backdrop to the motherland’s answer to Woodstock. Folks amble about with feathers and flowers in their hair, kids romp among the hay bales and swim in a salt lake under the moon, while grown ups amble from inspirational talks to fashion markets, street food and craft beers, outdoor cinema and live music. There’s more than enough to keep you busy through the weekend, but our favourite haunts were the Black Cow Vodka Saloon – an inspired distillation from the creamiest cows milk – snoozing in hammocks at Hush, and digging the totally original Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip performed live on the bowling green. Remember your neighbours are close and the music goes through the night, so pack your earplugs, don your glad rags and prepare to glamp with the finest. http://porteliotfestival.com.
